Garages · Trades · Any business that quotes

Catch them before they ring your competitor.

Somewhere between five and fifteen people look you up every month, they want a rough price, find nothing, and quietly go elsewhere. You never hear about any of them. This is how you capture them.

Your quietest hours are costing you the most.

Someone finds you at eleven at night. They want to know roughly what a job costs. There's no price anywhere, the phone's shut, and ringing a stranger to ask feels like a commitment. So they close the tab and try the next name on the list.

You never hear about those people. No missed call, no voicemail, nothing to follow up. It's the most invisible way a local business loses work, and it happens every week.

What you get

A quote form with your prices on it; Your jobs, your ranges, your business name. Not a generic calculator.

A QR code you can print; For the counter, the window, the van, the invoice.

A link you can send; Text it mid-call, put it on your website, add it to your Google profile.

Every enquiry arrives with a name, a number and the job they wanted. Including the ones that come in at midnight.

Where to use it

Five places this earns its keep.

Most people put it in one spot and forget it. These are the placements that actually bring work in, roughly in order of what they're worth.

  1. Your Google Business Profile

It's where most people find you, and most profiles have nothing to click.

    1. Sign in to your Google Business Profile and open Edit profile.
    2. Paste your link into Appointment link (or Website, if that's empty).
    3. Add a post saying "Get an instant price" with the same link. Posts run for seven days, so repeat monthly.
  2. Your website

A visitor who wanted a price and found none is a visitor you've lost.

    1. Add a homepage button reading Get an instant price.
    2. Put the link in your footer so it's on every page.
  3. Mid-call, by text

Someone ringing for a price is the warmest lead of your day.

    1. Save the link as a text shortcut on your phone.
    2. Send it while you're still talking, for anything complicated.
    3. They get something in writing, and you get their number automatically.
  4. The counter and the window

Catches people who walk past when you're shut.

    1. Print at A5 for the window, at eye height.
    2. Print smaller for the counter.
    3. One line above it; "Scan for an instant price."
  5. Invoices and vehicles

Past customers are the cheapest work you'll ever win.

    1. Add the QR to your invoice footer.
    2. Put it on the van. People photograph vans at traffic lights.

Common mistakes

Hiding prices completely. The worry is a competitor seeing them, or being held to a number. A range answers both. "£149–£219" is enough to start a conversation without committing you to anything.

Ranges set too narrow. Precise-looking, but it backs you into a corner. Roughly 40% between low and high is honest and still useful.

One placement, then forgotten. The businesses getting real numbers from this have it in four or five places. Twenty minutes, once.

What to expect

This won't transform your business overnight, and anyone saying otherwise is selling something.

What it does is stop a specific leak. Most businesses that put it in a few places pick up a handful of enquiries a month they'd never have known about, usually the after-hours ones. Whether that's worth it depends on what an average job is worth to you.

It costs nothing and takes a minute, so the maths is usually straightforward.
